After achieving my 1st Degree Black Belt in May 2015, I have been teaching my class in Yateley, Hampshire.

I've been training in Wu Shu Kwan for most of my life, starting from a very young age. This has been a consistent and progressive training with many of the Senior Masters at various classes, including under the Grand Master C K Chang and Senior Master Instructress Trish Chang.

In November 2017, after a further 2 and a half years dedication, learning and experience, I achieved my 2nd Degree Black Belt.
This involved a lot of in depth training and knowledge of all the syllabuses, forms and fixed sparring.
My own training was constant and consistent throughout these 2 and a half years, building on my own sparring and technical abilities.

After an additional 2 years of dedicated training, building on my knowledge and understanding of the Wu Shu Kwan teachings and discipline, I gained my 3rd Degree in November 2019.

With some delays due to the pandemic, after an additional 3 years 8 months of in-depth and concentrated training, in August 2023 I achieved my 4th Degree Black Belt at our Black Belt and Higher Degree Grading held in Farnborough, Hampshire.

Following this, my training became largely about the mentality of what it takes to be a martial artist. I have trained hard, consistently for my entire life, and apart from this being my final grading, it was a special grading for me for other reasons too! Such as it being 20 years since my Dad passed his 5th Degree and, also having my Mum (who is also a 1st Degree) refereeing, which I have not seen in all my life.
Finally, after 22 years of my life dedicated to this art, on the 12th of October 2025, I took, and passed my 5th Degree Black Belt.

After achieving my Black Belt in 1990, I began teaching a class in Isleworth, Middlesex. I continued my own training under the Senior Masters and reached my 5th Degree in August 2005.

In November 2017, after 12 years of continued training and devotion to Wu Shu Kwan and it's teachings, I was awarded the honour of my 6th Degree by Grand Master C K Chang.
This was awarded on the same day my son Aaron sat for, and achieved, his 2nd Degree.

Yateley Classes

The classes here in Yateley have been running since April 2009 when Jeff Joseph moved to the area and opened this class. We teach in The Monteagle Community Hall every Tuesday evening from 1930 to 2130.

As at all Wu Shu Kwan classes, we welcome men and women of all ages to come along and train, learning an 'art of fitness and self defence'. Ages can range from as young as 8 years up to 64 years of age. Maybe more.

You will find that Wu Shu Kwan classes are friendly and welcoming. This is true of all our classes around the UK, and abroad

Beginners are always welcome, and may start on any Tuesday evening. We encourage you to train along side the senior grades and the Black belts. This proves to be an excellent method of introducing novices to the exercises and traditional martial arts movements.

Through progressive and regular training you can learn this practical and effective self defence martial art whilst improving your fitness.

Wu Shu Kwan, whilst being an excellent form of fitness and self defence, is also a great social activity.
For myself, Wu Shu Kwan is a great way to to channel the daily/weekly stresses.
For you, this may take the form of a 9-5 office job, a labourer on a building site, or indeed full time studying at College, University or school. Or even the day to day running of the house and family life.
Our class includes people from all walks of life, chefs, teachers, builders, firemen, policemen, dancers, school children, college and university students.

Classes begin at 7:30pm

A two hour class includes warm up and stretching exercises, basic movements , fixed sparring, free sparring, and forms.

Advanced training includes the use of weapons such as the 3-section staff, staff and sword.

Each 2 hour session is only £10
